Deputies from the Ector County Sheriff’s Office encountered the suspects attempting to steal copper wiring and other materials from the site. Upon being confronted, the suspects fled on foot, prompting the use of a drone with thermal imaging and K-9 Sanuk to track them down.

K-9 Sanuk successfully located the suspects, leading to their arrest. One suspect sustained a dog bite while resisting arrest and was treated for the injury. The suspects were identified as Savannah Dozier, Matthew Dozier, and Chelsea Harris.

All three individuals face the following charges:

Criminal Mischief ($150,000-$300,000)
Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity
Theft of Aluminum, Bronze, or Copper
The suspects are being held at the Ector County Detention Center while the investigation continues.

The Ector County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the importance of using technology and K-9 units to apprehend criminals, especially given the serious safety hazards and financial losses caused by copper theft. Authorities also reminded businesses and property owners to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to prevent similar crimes.
