Three individuals were arrested in Delta County on Monday night after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a large quantity of illegal drugs. A deputy with the Delta County Sheriff’s Office had initiated the stop on Highway 50 after observing the driver swerving and having difficulty maintaining their lane.
During the stop, the deputy and his K-9, Teg, conducted an investigation. The K-9 performed a free-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of illegal drugs inside. Deputies asked the three occupants of the vehicle to exit, and a subsequent search revealed a significant amount of narcotics.
Authorities found about 1,500 fentanyl pills, 12 grams of ecstasy, 454 grams of methamphetamine, 50 grams of fentanyl powder, and 21 grams of carfentanil, a powerful drug commonly used as a sedative for elephants.
As a result of the discovery, the three occupants—Junior Rosales-Blanco, 23, from Montrose, Manuel Sepulveda, 44, from Delta, and Nakisha Ramirez, 27, from Montrose—were arrested and charged with multiple felony drug-related offenses, including possession and possession with intent to distribute illegal narcotics.
The Delta County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the significance of the bust, stating that the seizure of over 1,500 fentanyl pills and other dangerous narcotics represents a major victory for the safety of the community, particularly in preventing potential harm to children and residents of Delta County.
