Three Arrested in Coventry for Suspected £70,000 Fraud

Traffic Officers Employ Tactics to Prevent Pursuit

by Amelia Crawford

Three individuals have been arrested in Coventry following a proactive operation by West Midlands Police’s Traffic Unit. The arrests took place after officers spotted a car suspected of being used in criminal activities nationwide on May 8.

At approximately 12:15 PM, traffic officers intercepted a Mercedes AMG on London Road, successfully boxing it in to prevent any pursuit. The suspects—a 20-year-old man and two 18-year-old men—were taken into custody.

The trio is under suspicion for defrauding an elderly woman out of more than £70,000. Chief Inspector Becky Barnsley from Roads Policing emphasized the department’s commitment to disrupting criminals, stating, “We proactively patrol the roads and motorways in our region to disrupt the criminals using them, no matter where in the country they have committed the crime.”
