Three Arrested in Clovis-Fresno Mail Theft Chase

Clovis, Calif. — A high-speed chase through the streets of Clovis and Fresno ended with three people arrested on suspicion of mail theft. The pursuit began at around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday when a Clovis police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle near Fowler and Alluvial Avenues. The driver refused to stop, triggering a 23-mile chase across southwest Fresno.

California Highway Patrol deployed spike strips, blowing out the vehicle’s tires, but the suspects continued until a Clovis officer used a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver, bringing the chase to a halt near California and Orange Avenues.

The three suspects — 42-year-old Yer Vue, 35-year-old Amanda Lizarraga of Fresno, and 30-year-old Sombat Vang of Clovis — attempted to flee on foot but were quickly captured by Clovis and Fresno police officers. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed stolen mail from over 100 addresses in Clovis.

The suspects were arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges including mail theft, possession of stolen property, burglary tools, and conspiracy. Authorities are now working with the United States Postal Inspectors to return the stolen mail to its rightful owners.

With tax season in full swing, law enforcement officials are urging residents to check their mail daily and report any suspicious activity immediately. If you witness a crime in progress, call 911; for those who believe they may have been victims of mail theft, contact Clovis Police at (559) 324-2800.
