Three Arrested for Stealing Copper Wire Worth $675 in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, TX – Danny Kempe, 57, Sheldon Witt, 48, and Darcie Jackson, 42, were arrested in Fort Worth for allegedly stealing nearly $700 worth of copper wire cables on January 20, 2025.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, officers responded to a suspicious person call in the 2900 block of Shamrock Ave., where three individuals were seen removing copper from a building. Upon arrival, officers arrested the trio and recovered 155 pounds of copper wire valued at $675.80.

All three suspects were charged with theft of material under $20,000, a felony offense.

The police department emphasized the ongoing issue of metal theft, which disrupts essential services like communication, citing incidents where copper theft has impacted AT&T customers in North Texas, leaving them without phone service.

In a recent incident, copper thieves in Garland posed as utility workers, carrying out thefts during both daylight and night hours. Authorities are working diligently to address these crimes and prevent further disruptions.
