Three Arrested After Carjacked SUV Found in Naperville

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Three suspects were arrested on Saturday evening in Naperville after police located a stolen GMC Acadia linked to a carjacking that occurred an hour earlier in another suburb.

At approximately 7:11 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of South Washington Street after receiving reports about the stolen black GMC Acadia. Upon arrival, police found the vehicle parked and running outside an apartment complex. Squad cars blocked the vehicle to prevent its escape.

The suspects fled the vehicle on foot. After a brief foot chase, two of the suspects were apprehended, while the third, armed with a firearm, fled the scene by scaling several fences. Officers set up a perimeter and used a K9 officer to track the suspect down. The third suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Ezequiel Lopez-Bey of Palatine, was found hiding in a shed in a nearby backyard.

Lopez-Bey faces multiple charges, including:

Resisting a peace officer (Class A misdemeanor)
Receiving, possessing, or selling a stolen motor vehicle (Class 2 felony)
Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon (Class 4 felony)
Aggravated fleeing and eluding (Class 4 felony)
Another suspect, 19-year-old Andrew De Lance of Arlington Heights, was charged with receiving, possessing, or selling a stolen motor vehicle (Class 2 felony) and resisting a peace officer (Class A misdemeanor).

Both Lopez-Bey and De Lance were taken to the DuPage County Jail and are awaiting court appearances. The third suspect, a juvenile, was released pending further proceedings.

Police have not yet provided details about the initial carjacking or when Lopez-Bey and De Lance are due in court. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
