TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Two men are facing federal drug charges after a major bust orchestrated by the FBI in December. Thomas Zuber of Lambertville, Michigan, and his associate Ibrahim Akl are accused of operating a large drug trafficking ring spanning multiple states.

Federal court documents filed Monday reveal the complex operation that involved a stash house on Upton Avenue in Toledo. Investigators allege that Zuber and Akl were distributing methamphetamine pills from Detroit, down through Ohio, and toward the Kentucky border. The FBI began surveillance on Zuber in September, which led to a controlled purchase in December. This culminated in the execution of search warrants at both the stash house and Zuber’s home on South Summerway Court in Lambertville on January 27.

During the search, approximately 5,000 meth pills were discovered at the Toledo stash house, and drug manufacturing equipment was found at Zuber’s residence. Zuber has a criminal history, including previous drug-related convictions in Lucas County (2009 and 2010) and Wyoming (2017).

Both Zuber and Akl were arrested and are facing serious federal charges. Zuber had his initial court appearance on Tuesday and was appointed a public defender. He is scheduled to appear again in court on February 5. Akl’s court date was set for January 30. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to dismantle the drug trafficking network.
