Thomas Jordan Pleads Guilty to Illegal Handgun Possession in Hamilton Twp

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Thomas Jordan, 34, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty Monday to unlawful possession of a handgun after police discovered a loaded firearm during a traffic stop on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to court records, Jordan was pulled over on the Black Horse Pike around 1:42 a.m. on December 26, 2021, for multiple motor vehicle infractions, including failing to stay in his lane and impeding traffic.

During the DUI investigation, officers found a .40-caliber handgun with a round chambered, along with a 15-round and a 10-round magazine, both fully loaded. Jordan has prior convictions that legally prohibit him from possessing a firearm.

He entered a guilty plea to a second-degree charge of unlawful handgun possession. Under the plea agreement, Jordan faces up to five years in prison, with a parole ineligibility period of 3½ years.

Jordan remains free on bail pending sentencing, which is scheduled for September 19.
