On Saturday, Thirumangalam police arrested U. Selvam (50), an autorickshaw driver, for the murder of P. Muniyappan (48), following a heated argument over fleecing customers.
Both men worked at the same autorickshaw stand on Anna Nagar 11th Main Road, where they had frequent quarrels. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when Selvam accused Muniyappan of demanding excessive money from customers, damaging the stand’s reputation. After a confrontation, Selvam brutally beat Muniyappan to death with a wooden log.
The police arrested Selvam after his confession and are continuing their investigation into the incident.
