Textile Trader Cheated of ₹72 Lakh by Fraudster Using False Identity

Rizwan Syed allegedly assumed a Hindu identity to cheat a trader in the textile market, leading to a police investigation after fraudulent transactions worth Rs72.03 lakh came to light.

According to the complaint filed by Prajnesh Mansukh Vaghani, also known as Pintu, owner of Mit Creation textile factory in Dheeraj Industries, he met broker Anil Hasmukh Chevli in August 2023. Chevli arranged a meeting between Pintu and the accused, who was operating under the name Jagdish Kumawat and running a business called Mahaveer Trading in Kadiwala House, Khatodara GIDC.

Initially, Jagdish purchased goods worthRs10 lakh, with payments made promptly to build trust. However, over the next 10 months, 66 bills totaling Rs 72.03 lakh were generated for cloth purchases, but payments were never made. When Pintu sought the outstanding payments, he discovered that Jagdish Kumawat was actually Rizwan Syed Abid Hussain. Upon confrontation about the debt, Syed allegedly threatened Pintu.

The case was reported to the Udhna police station, where authorities registered a complaint against five individuals. The police arrested Rizwan Syed and Mahesh Ramji Bhalani, who had promised to pay the outstanding amount. Further investigation revealed that the gang operated not only in Khatodara GIDC but also had two additional offices in Saroli and another in Godadara.
