A 26-year-old woman, Tess Britt, was arrested Thursday on charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of her 3-month-old daughter.
On December 13, 2024, deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) responded to a call at 3580 Meriden Avenue in Oldsmar, a city near Tampa, where an infant was found unresponsive. Paramedics transported the baby to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
An investigation revealed that the baby had suffered multiple brain bleeds and a significant skull fracture. The Medical Examiner confirmed that the cause of death was blunt head trauma.
Detectives determined that the infant was in the care of her mother, Britt, when the injuries occurred. Following weeks of investigation, Britt was arrested on March 6, 2025, and charged with first-degree murder. She has been booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
