Terrell Morris Spits at Officer During Bristol Riot Arrest

Bristol, UK — Terrell Morris, 32, was sentenced on February 7 at Bristol Crown Court after he spat at a police officer during his arrest at the Bristol riot last summer. Morris approached uniformed officers on August 3, asking to pass through a cordon to reach his car. When his request was denied, his behavior became increasingly hostile.

Despite being arrested, Morris continued to act aggressively and spat at an officer while being transported to custody. The officer was simply performing their duties when the assault took place. Morris was sentenced to an 18-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay £50 in compensation to the officer.

DCI Tom Herbert, Senior Investigating Officer, commented, “Morris acted in a threatening manner and then deplorably spat at a police officer who was simply doing their job.”

Avon and Somerset Police also issued a reminder to the public about not sharing materials that could interfere with ongoing criminal cases.
