Terence John Adams Jailed After Trying to Flee Burglary Charge

Terence John Adams, 37, who attempted to escape to Southeast Asia after burgling a pub, was arrested by police at Heathrow Airport as he tried to board a flight. Adams had stolen over £3,000 from the Top House pub in Winsford, Cheshire and had promised officers he would turn himself in. However, instead of going to the police station, he booked a flight to Vietnam.

On September 7, Adams was drinking at the pub when he slipped into the men’s toilets and pushed open a rear window. Later that night, he returned to the pub, climbed through the window, and stole thousands of pounds in cash. The next morning, after discovering the burglary, a staff member reviewed CCTV footage and identified Adams as the suspect.

When the police contacted him, Adams admitted to the crime, assuring them he would hand himself in at Northwich Police Station. However, instead of doing so, he booked a flight to Vietnam in an attempt to flee the country.

As Adams approached the departure gate at Heathrow Airport on September 11, police were waiting for him and arrested him before he could board his flight. Chester Magistrates Court later sentenced him to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to the burglary.

Detective Constable Lara Hill, of Cheshire Police, stated, “Adams thought he could escape justice by fleeing the country, but our diligent inquiries led us to track his movements, ensuring he was arrested before he could leave.”

In addition to his prison sentence, Adams was ordered to pay compensation and was recalled to prison for prior offenses.
