Teenager Arrested for Strong-Arm Robbery, Targeting Elderly Women
BELLEVUE, Wash. — A teenager, Madden McGraw, 18, has been arrested by Bellevue Police in connection to the strong-arm robbery of a 72-year-old woman and is suspected of targeting multiple elderly victims in a series of crimes. The robbery took place on January 10 at the 100 block of 108th Avenue N.
Robbery Incident on January 10
The victim, a 72-year-old woman, told officers that after completing a shopping trip, she was ambushed by McGraw as she approached her car. He grabbed her purse, and after a brief struggle, he managed to snatch it and push her to the ground before fleeing the scene.
“This is concerning for any community when vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly, are intentionally targeted in such violent ways,” said Major Ellen Inman of Bellevue Police.
SWAT Team Arrests McGraw
On January 27, police arrested McGraw in Federal Way after gathering evidence linking him to the robbery. During a search of his property, police uncovered several stolen items, including credit and debit cards, over 30 sets of stolen keys, five firearms, and law enforcement equipment. Many of the items were linked to other elderly victims, suggesting McGraw worked with accomplices to target this vulnerable demographic.
Expanding Crime Spree
The investigation also revealed McGraw’s involvement in a January 10 assault that involved a firearm. Authorities believe McGraw, possibly working with others, may be connected to a larger crime spree in the Bellevue area and beyond.
Charges and Bail
McGraw is currently facing multiple charges, including first-degree robbery, firearm theft, identity theft, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of stolen property. His bail has been set at $250,000.
“The swift response from our detectives and SWAT team was crucial in removing this dangerous individual from our community,” said Wendell Shirley, Bellevue Police Chief. “This is an ongoing investigation, and we are committed to ensuring justice for all victims involved.”
The Bellevue Police Department continues to investigate McGraw’s criminal activities and is working to uncover any other victims tied to the case.
