Teacher Loses 1.5 Million Baht in Investment Scam; Chinese Nationals Linked

BANGKOK, Thailand – A Thai teacher who initially saw small returns on her investment in a fraudulent scheme ultimately lost 1.5 million baht when she was unable to withdraw her funds. After investing more money, she received only 57,900 baht, resulting in a significant financial loss.

Cyber Police traced the stolen funds to four Thai nationals who were operating mule accounts used to launder proceeds from the scam. These funds were converted into USDT cryptocurrency and transferred to Wu’s digital wallet.

During the investigation, officers found evidence linking Wu to a lavish lifestyle, including luxury cars and large sums of cash, as well as images suggesting possible drug use on her mobile phone. Wu has denied the allegations, claiming that her ex-boyfriend may have used her details for money laundering activities.

The two Chinese nationals linked to the scam are expected to face legal proceedings in Thailand before potentially being extradited to China for prosecution. Meanwhile, Thai authorities are continuing to pursue further suspects, having already arrested three Thai mule account operators in connection with the scheme.
