Woman Arrested for Stealing Social Security Benefits from Ex’s Grandmother
Taylor Alexis Meredith, a Chambersburg woman, has been arrested on charges of felony access device fraud and felony theft after allegedly stealing $943 in Social Security benefits from her ex-boyfriend’s grandmother. Meredith remains in custody, unable to post her $10,000 bail.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), the theft occurred on November 21st, when Meredith withdrew the funds from the bank account of Jacore Bonitto, her ex-boyfriend. Bonitto had been incarcerated at the time. The theft was reported by Bonitto’s grandmother, who informed troopers that Meredith had taken the money without permission.
Bonitto told investigators that he had lost his phone and logged into his bank account using Meredith’s device before going to jail. Although he repeatedly asked Meredith to log out of his account and not use it, the theft occurred while he was incarcerated. Bonitto reportedly confirmed that Meredith was the only one with access to his account after his arrest.
Meredith has been charged and remains held at the Franklin County Jail on a $10,000 bail.
