Taron Todd Arrested After Fleeing Crash, Runs Out of Gas

A minor traffic collision in Winter Haven, Florida, escalated into a multi-charge arrest when Taron Todd, 31, of Bartow, attempted to flee the scene—only to run out of gas moments later, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on March 26th, just before 3 p.m., at the intersection of Transport Road and US 17. Todd, riding a motorcycle, was involved in a minor crash with a Toyota sedan. Instead of stopping, he sped away, prompting the Toyota driver to call 911 and follow him.

A Polk County deputy soon located Todd and initiated a traffic stop, but Todd refused to pull over. His attempted escape ended abruptly when his motorcycle sputtered to a halt—apparently out of gas.

As the motorcycle slowed, Todd reportedly threw up his arms in frustration before dismounting. When the deputy approached, Todd allegedly exclaimed:

“****, man, I barely hit that guy, I was trying to get away from him, he was chasing me.”

Charges Against Todd
Todd was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail, where he now faces multiple charges, including:

Operating a Motorcycle Without a License

Aggravated Fleeing the Scene of a Crash with Damages

Littering

Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage

Possession of Marijuana

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Driving Without a Valid License

Resisting Arrest

Driving an Unregistered Vehicle

Authorities credit quick response from law enforcement and the reporting driver for Todd’s swift apprehension.
