Taposh Sarkar Arrested for Drug Peddling in Sivasagar

Sivasagar police made a significant arrest on Sunday, capturing a drug peddler based on credible information. The arrested individual, Taposh Sarkar, 27, from Palakhani Gaon, is accused of trafficking narcotics in the area.

During a search operation in Baniabari, officers discovered two plastic containers containing a substance weighing 33.96 grams, which is suspected to be heroin. The substance has been sent for forensic analysis to determine its exact composition and purity.

This arrest is part of a broader initiative by local authorities to curb the growing drug trade in the region. Investigators believe that Sarkar could be connected to a larger network trafficking drugs across multiple districts. Authorities are continuing to probe the situation to uncover additional suspects involved in the operation.

In a related development, the Central Guwahati Police, under the Paltanbazar Police Station, recently conducted a successful raid in Suhagpur. During this raid, a notorious drug dealer, Md. Sheikh, was arrested, along with 13 grams of suspected heroin and Rs. 1,020 in cash from his illegal dealings. This operation is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle narcotics networks operating throughout the region.
