Tammy Spring Arrested for Embezzling Funds from Morgantown Cemetery

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) – A 59-year-old woman, Tammy Spring from Thornton, was arrested on Friday after authorities said she embezzled funds from East Oak Grove and Oak Grove Cemeteries in Morgantown.

According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, Spring engaged in embezzlement, document forgery, and fraudulent schemes to steal money over several years. A year-long investigation revealed a pattern of financial misconduct that took place between February 2019 and September 2023.

Spring faces multiple charges, including embezzlement, fraudulent schemes, and forgery. She is currently being held at the North Central Regional Jail with her bond set at $80,000.

Authorities emphasized that Spring’s arrest represents a significant effort to hold individuals accountable for crimes that harm local institutions and their communities. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are asking anyone who had transactions with Spring at the East Oak Grove Cemetery during this period to come forward.
