A special squad from the Kozhikode City cyber police station has arrested Sufiyan Kabeer, a Tamil Nadu native, for his involvement in a Rs67 lakh online trading scam. The suspect, who was involved in cheating an investor from Pantheerankavu, was apprehended after a meticulous two-year investigation by the cyber police.
According to police reports, Kabeer initially contacted the investor through social media, promising substantial returns from share trading. Using social media applications, he built a rapport with the victim, eventually gaining their trust and convincing them to invest in trading opportunities.
However, the scammer used the invested funds for his own benefit. The police revealed that Kabeer gained unauthorized access to the investor’s personal bank account and transferred the money into his own trading accounts, where it was misused for personal gains.
The case has now been cracked after extensive technical analysis and investigation. The cyber police are continuing to investigate the full extent of the scam and are working to recover the defrauded funds.
This case highlights the increasing danger of online trading frauds, where cybercriminals exploit social media to lure unsuspecting investors. Authorities are urging people to be cautious when making investments online and to verify the legitimacy of trading platforms before transferring funds.
