Surrey Teenager Stanley Newell Sentenced for Car Theft and Burglary

An 18-year-old from Surrey, Stanley Newell, has been sentenced to 25 months after being convicted of stealing two cars from driveways in Epsom and Ewell. Newell, of Burnhams Grove, Epsom, was arrested following a police chase on July 3, during which he had broken into a home in Ewell and stolen keys to a Ford Focus.

After his arrest, investigators were able to link Newell to a separate car theft in Epsom the previous week. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of burglary, and operating a vehicle without third-party insurance.

Newell was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court to serve 16 months in a young offenders’ institution before completing the remainder of his sentence in a prison. Additionally, he was disqualified from driving for 30 months.
