Surat Police Arrest 3 in Drug Smuggling Operation from Rajasthan

On Sunday, Surat Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) detained three individuals involved in a drug smuggling operation originating from Rajasthan. The traffickers were using ice cream lorries as a cover for their illicit drug deliveries.

Acting on a tip-off about drug smuggling from Rajasthan, the SOG raided The Grand Villa Hotel near Udhna Darwaja on Ring Road. Inside room 704, they arrested 22-year-old Chetan Sahu from Udaipur, Rajasthan, and seized 354 grams of MD drugs, two mobile phones, a car, and Rs11,350 in cash. The total value of the confiscated items was approximately Rs44.75 lakh.

Investigations revealed that Chetan was supposed to deliver the drugs to two other suspects, Anishkhan Lakdawala and Vikas Ahir, both arrested in Surat. Further interrogation disclosed that the drug trafficking network, previously using a route through Maharashtra, had switched to a new route via Rajasthan to enter Gujarat, after local police crackdowns disrupted the previous supply chain.
