Sumter County Man Arrested for Domestic Violence Incident

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — Emmit Zachary Bilton, 18, was arrested by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office on January 30 after an incident of domestic violence that took place on Highway 15 North.

Authorities responded to a rolling vehicle domestic incident around 3:26 p.m. when a victim and witness reported that Bilton had rammed the rear of the victim’s vehicle. The victim, along with another adult and a child, drove to a nearby store in an attempt to escape Bilton. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, but Bilton’s vehicle was disabled and had to stop.

Deputies met with the victims at the store while additional officers located Bilton. After investigating the incident, Bilton was arrested and taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. He was later released after posting a $50,000 surety bond.

Bilton now faces two charges: Domestic Violence – High and Aggravated, and Assault and Battery – First Degree (Two Counts).
