Subhash M Varghese Held for Overseas Job Scam

A 48-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly duping multiple people with promises of overseas jobs. The accused, Subhash M Varghese, a resident of Mattappilly, was running a fraudulent operation under the guise of a firm named Lambromellon, located at Kadamattom near Kolenchery.

According to police, between August 2024 and April 2025, Varghese used forged documents and the Aadhaar details of a Kozhikode native to deceive job seekers. He created a bank account using a candidate’s identity under the pretense of verifying transaction history. Through this account, he collected substantial amounts of money.

To build trust, he issued fake employment agreements and assured the aspirants that their visas would be ready by April 2025. However, he disappeared shortly after, prompting a police investigation.

Varghese was eventually located and arrested from a rented residence in Thiruvilwamala, Palakkad, where he was living with his family. Authorities also revealed that he had served time in prison for a murder conviction until 2018.

In a separate case, Kothamangalam police arrested four migrant workers for possession of 20 kilograms of ganja late Monday night. The arrested individuals were Noor Islam (26) and Suman Mollah (25) from Murshidabad, West Bengal, and Shimanjal Pal (36) and Prashant Kumar (58) from Odisha.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the contraband was transported by train from Assam. The suspects reportedly got off at Aluva railway station before heading to Kothamangalam, where they were apprehended.
