FLAT ROCK, Ala. — Stuart Sandrock, a resident of Jackson County, was arrested on October 2 after investigators discovered he had been using the identity of a deceased man to purchase firearms, ammunition, and other items.
Initially detained for possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl, Sandrock gave authorities a false identity. Further investigation revealed that the name he provided belonged to a man who had passed away.
Authorities uncovered Sandrock’s past criminal record, including a 1993 conviction for soliciting to commit murder in San Diego.
Following a search warrant executed at Sandrock’s residence on County Road 81 in Flat Rock, law enforcement officials seized 33 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and documents bearing the dead man’s name that Sandrock had been using.
Sandrock now faces multiple charges, including seven counts of identity theft, obstructing justice by using a false identity, possession of firearms by a prohibited person, two counts of possession of a short-barreled rifle, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Additional charges may be forthcoming. Sandrock remains in custody at the Jackson County Jail with a bond set at $45,500.
