A 60-year-old man from Stuart, Oklahoma, was arrested on January 8 for stealing cattle from his employer. Darrel Bernard Morris, the manager of a ranch in Hughes County, Oklahoma, faces 83 felony charges of larceny of livestock, according to the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA).
The investigation, led by TSCRA Special Rangers Cody Hyde and Gavin Gatrell, began in December 2024 after receiving evidence and witness statements about Morris’s activities. The investigation revealed that Morris had stolen 83 yearling cattle between January 2023 and December 2024 from the ranch he managed.
Morris transported the stolen cattle to various livestock auctions, where he sold them for more than $108,000. He has been charged with felony larceny, and further legal proceedings are underway.
