STF Arrests Four in Massive Ganja Seizure in Deogarh District

The Special Task Force (STF) successfully intercepted a major drug trafficking operation on Wednesday in Deogarh, Odisha. In a significant raid in the Riamal area, over 1000 kg of ganja was seized, and four individuals were arrested in connection with the illegal drug trade.

The arrested suspects were identified as Ashish Kumar Barik from Sambalpur, Subas Sikdar from Bargarh, Ratan Sahu from Angul, and Samit Nayak from Chhendipada. The STF team caught the peddlers as they were transporting the contraband, intending to distribute it across various locations.

Ashish Kumar Barik, the lead suspect, had been previously arrested in 2021 in another drug smuggling case. With three vehicles seized during the raid, the authorities are now deepening their investigation into the roots of the illegal ganja network.

An STF official confirmed that operations against illegal drug trafficking would continue, with ongoing efforts to dismantle such criminal operations.
