Stephen Kennedy Arrested After Stolen Property Recovered in Phillips Burglary Case

PHILLIPS – On Wednesday, Nov. 27, detectives and deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office carried out a search warrant at a residence on Pleasant Street in Phillips, as well as at two additional locations. The search led to the recovery of numerous stolen items, linked to a series of break-ins at camps, storage facilities, and a residential burglary over the past four months.

Stephen Kennedy, 34, of Pleasant Street in Phillips, was arrested in connection with the crimes. A total of 62 items were recovered, including various Milwaukee tools, camping equipment, a large safe, two dirt bikes, chainsaws, a ladder, a boat motor, coolers, a solar panel, fly fishing rods, and a canoe paddle. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated to exceed $20,000.

Kennedy faces several charges, including Class B Burglary, Class C Theft, Class C Receiving Stolen Property, and Class C Unlawful Possession of Fentanyl. Authorities have identified additional suspects, and the investigation is ongoing. Kennedy was taken into custody and transported to the Franklin County Jail.

The operation was led by Lt. David St. Laurent, with assistance from Detective David Davol, Sgt. Austin Couture, and Deputies Andrew Morgan and Alec Frost. The search warrant was executed following a month-long investigation into the thefts.
