Stephen Johnson, Jaylene Brown, and Craig Heerlein Arrested on Drug and Firearm Charges in Colonie

Colonie, NY — Three individuals were arrested early Monday morning at the Albany Airport Inn in Colonie on drug and firearm charges.

Officers from the Colonie Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle blocking a handicapped parking spot. The vehicle was occupied by 49-year-old Stephen E. Johnson of Albany and a female passenger. Upon investigation, officers discovered a small amount of narcotics and a loaded handgun, which was identified as stolen during a 2017 burglary at New York Shooter Supply.

Johnson was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including criminal possession of a weapon and narcotics with intent to sell.

Following a search warrant on room 251 of the hotel, law enforcement uncovered additional drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, and crack cocaine. This led to the arrest of 39-year-old Jaylene E. Brown from South Glens Falls and 35-year-old Craig C. Heerlein of Whitehall. Both were charged with felony drug possession and intent to sell.

Johnson was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail. Brown was released on her own recognizance, and Heerlein was released under probation supervision.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Colonie Police Investigations Division or Capital Region Crimestoppers.
