NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 39-year-old man, Stephen Hughes, has been arrested again for vehicle theft, marking his fifth arrest for similar offenses since 2018.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), Hughes was apprehended on Monday afternoon after being spotted driving a stolen 2008 Nissan Rogue on Lewis Street. The vehicle had been stolen the previous day from a Maplewood Trace motel parking lot.
Hughes, who has a history of car theft arrests, allegedly admitted to officers that he “just got in the car and was going to take it back.” He was also found to be driving with a suspended license and is facing additional charges of vehicle theft and driving on a suspended license.
Records show that Hughes has a criminal background, including serving time as an ex-convict for a weapons offense. He is currently being held at Metro Jail on a $16,000 bond.
