Staci Blackmon Sentenced to 35 Years for Stealing $1.2M

SOUTHLAKE, Texas — A North Texas woman was sentenced to 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to two theft charges. Staci Blackmon, 2020, stole $1.2 million from both her former employer’s account and the company’s bank account.

Prosecutors revealed that Blackmon used most of the stolen funds to purchase TikTok coins, a form of in-app currency that allows users to tip creators during live streams. These coins can be exchanged for real money.

In addition to the coins, Blackmon spent the stolen money on extravagant items, including a suite for the Dallas Mavericks, home furnishings, and luxury vacations.

A judge handed down two concurrent 35-year prison sentences for Blackmon.
