Srinagar Police Arrest Drug Peddler, Seize Brown Sugar

In its ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace in society, Srinagar police have arrested a drug peddler and seized a substantial quantity of contraband substances. The arrest took place during routine patrols between Bemina Chowk and Boatman Colony.

A police spokesperson shared that a vehicle was noticed driving suspiciously and recklessly. Despite attempts by the driver to flee, the vehicle was successfully intercepted. Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver immediately abandoned it and fled the scene, while his co-passenger was apprehended.

The arrested individual was identified as Sameer Ahmad Bhat, son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Woyan Pampore. During questioning, Bhat revealed the identity of the driver as Mudasir Ahmad Pir, a resident of Firdous Colony Bemina. Further searches of the vehicle led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of a Brown Sugar-like substance from the dashboard. Additionally, a weighing machine and a mobile phone were also seized.

The vehicle involved in the crime was seized by the police. A case has been filed under FIR No. 18/2025 at Police Station Bemina. Authorities are continuing their search for the absconding driver, Mudasir Ahmad Pir.

The police have urged the public to support their efforts in eradicating the drug menace from the community and assured that strict legal actions will be taken against offenders.
