In its ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace, the Srinagar and Awantipora Police have arrested four individuals and seized large quantities of contraband substances.
In a routine naka checking at Malkha Chowk in Nowhatta, Srinagar, police intercepted a suspicious individual, identified as Sajad Sheikh, a resident of Sheikh Colony, Hawal. Upon searching him, authorities recovered approximately 3.370 kilograms of charas powder-like substance and 20 grams of charas. Sajad was arrested on the spot.
In a separate operation in Awantipora, a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Awantipora intercepted three individuals at a checkpoint in Hatiwara. The suspects—Danish Rasheed Bhat, Danish Ashraf Dar, and Umer Rasool Dar, all residents of Lethpora—were found in possession of 65 grams of charas-like substance. They were also arrested and are facing charges under relevant sections of the law.
Both cases have been registered at their respective police stations, and further investigations are underway.
The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activity to local authorities or dial 112. They reassured the community that strict action will be taken against those involved in drug trafficking to protect society.
