Sribhumi Police Arrest Two for Smuggling 80,000 Yaba Tablets

In a major anti-drug operation during the Holi celebrations, Sribhumi police successfully intercepted a truck carrying a large cache of narcotics. The truck, which was headed from Champhai, Mizoram, was flagged down in the bypass area near Sribhumi city, where authorities conducted a thorough search.

During the operation, the police discovered 80,000 Yaba tablets cleverly hidden inside the vehicle’s gearbox. The drugs, which are valued at approximately Rs34 crores, were seized, and two individuals, Samim Uddin and Tanzil Abedin, both from Kalain, Cachar, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the trafficking operation.

Partha Pratim Das, Superintendent of Police, confirmed the arrests and the significant seizure, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug smuggling in the region. Further investigations are underway as the authorities work to uncover the broader network behind this operation.
