Springfield Police Seize Ghost Gun, Drugs, and Cash in Arrests

Springfield, Mass. — On Wednesday, October 16th, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from Squad “C,” Traffic, and C3 Units of the Springfield Police Department made a significant seizure following a routine traffic stop. The officers confiscated a loaded Ghost Gun, drugs, and over $1,300 in cash during the operation.

The traffic stop occurred on School Street due to an improperly inspected vehicle. Upon further investigation, officers noticed a 17-year-old male passenger with a firearm visible in his jacket pocket. The officers immediately removed the weapon, a loaded Ghost Gun, and placed the teen under arrest.

The firearm, which contained 16 rounds of ammunition, was found to be a ghost gun — a weapon that lacks a serial number and is often assembled from parts. A search of the teenager’s backpack revealed additional ammunition, marijuana, crack-cocaine, a digital scale, and cash. Additional marijuana, packaged for sale, and more cash were found inside the car.

The driver, 19-year-old Carlos Ocasio, and passenger, 19-year-old Johanna Garcia, were also arrested. Both face drug-related charges, while Ocasio is also charged with possession of ammunition without an FID card and a probation violation. The 17-year-old’s name and charges have not been disclosed due to his age.

Carlos Ocasio of Springfield has been charged with:

Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
Violation of Probation Warrant (Hampden Superior Court)
Johanna Garcia, also of Springfield, faces charges of:

Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
The investigation continues, and authorities have not released further details at this time.
