Springfield Man Hector Rodriguez Arrested with Firearm Charges


A Springfield man, Hector Rodriguez, is facing multiple firearm-related charges after being arrested in Blunt Park. Police found Rodriguez inside the park after hours, with shots reported on nearby Chicopee Street around 3 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle parked in the area, which led to a search of the car. Rodriguez, 25, had an active warrant for his arrest.

During the search, officers seized a loaded firearm and additional ammunition from the vehicle. Rodriguez now faces several charges, including:

Carrying a Firearm without a License
Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number
Firearm Violation with a Prior Violent/Drug Crime
Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card – Subsequent Offense
Trespassing
Arrest Warrant for Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended License
Uninsured Motor Vehicle
Receiving Stolen Property (Less than $1200)
Number Plate Violation to Conceal ID
Rodriguez, who has a prior firearms conviction in Greenfield District Court, was taken into custody by Springfield police.
