South Salmara-Mankachar Police Arrest Three in Major Drug Bust

In a significant move against drug trafficking, the South Salmara-Mankachar Police conducted a series of anti-narcotics raids on January 21, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a wide variety of illegal drugs, along with cash and other items.

The operations were carried out under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Pratap Das, targeting key locations including Chirakhowa, Bangrichar, and Balughat. The police acted on a tip-off that helped them uncover illicit drug activity in the region.

The first raid took place in Chirakhowa village, where Romjan Ali (24) was apprehended by the Kalapani Outpost team. During the search, police found 11 vials containing suspected brown sugar weighing 12.48 grams, along with a Samsung mobile phone and Rs 485 in cash.

In a parallel operation in Bangrichar village, officers from Sukchar Police Station arrested 48-year-old Nutub Ali. Authorities discovered 90 yaba tablets weighing 9.97 grams, Rs 28,000 in cash, two mobile phones, and packaging materials during the raid.

The third operation in Balughat resulted in the arrest of Abu Bakkar Siddique, who was found in possession of 995 tramadol capsules weighing 716 grams. Additionally, a motorcycle was seized from him.

All three operations were carried out in the presence of independent witnesses and were videographed to ensure transparency. The police have launched legal proceedings under the NDPS Act, reiterating their commitment to combating narcotics-related offenses and safeguarding public safety in the region.
