In a major crackdown on counterfeit currency, the Sola High Court police arrested six men from Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, for possessing 247 counterfeit Rs500 notes. Acting on a tip-off, the police apprehended the suspects in the Chanakyapuri vegetable market while they were allegedly attempting to use the fake currency to make purchases.
Inspector KN Bhukan confirmed that the arrested men were caught with bundles of Rs500 denomination notes, which appeared genuine at first glance. However, the police soon discovered that the notes had a green security thread, which had been stuck onto the paper using adhesive. Further investigation revealed that the counterfeiters had purchased green security threads and high-quality paper from a local stationery shop to make the fake notes.
The six individuals were identified as Deepak Jatav (21), Umesh alias Anurag Jatav (24), Vikas Jatav (25), Umesh Rajkumar Jatav (22), and Dharmendra Jatav (22), all residents of Siloli (Bhagosh) village in Bhind. The sixth individual, Rishikesh Jatav (19), hails from Mustati village.
The police are continuing to investigate the network behind the counterfeit currency operation and are probing whether these individuals were part of a larger counterfeit racket. The six men have been taken into custody for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
