Social Media Influencer Arrested for Snatching Rs 3 Lakh in North Delhi

In a surprising turn of events, Pawan alias Calvin alias Network, a social media influencer, was arrested for allegedly snatching a bag containing Rs 3 lakh in North Delhi’s Civil Lines area. The accused, who had over 16,000 Instagram followers for his dance videos and funny reels, turned to theft along with his associate during the evenings, the police revealed on Tuesday.

According to Raja Banthia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for North Delhi, the complainant, R Shrinivas Rao, reported that his bag, containing Rs 3 lakh and important documents, was snatched outside St Stephen’s Hospital on March 4. The assailants fled the scene on foot and then sped away on a scooter driven by another person.

The police team launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage, questioning 22 domestic staff members, and analyzing call detail records (CDRs). Their efforts led them to Pawan as the prime suspect. During questioning, Pawan admitted to committing the crime to earn easy money and revealed he had been arrested previously for a similar bag-snatching incident.

On March 8, the police successfully apprehended Pawan from Peepal Chowk, Ambedkar Nagar, and recovered the stolen cash along with other valuable items.

Pawan confessed that he took advantage of his employer’s absence to commit the crime, revealing that he had no prior criminal history. He explained that he resorted to theft out of greed.

The police have assured that the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on their findings.
