JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – A man from Sneads, Antoine Clayton, was arrested on Tuesday for grand theft after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a local motel.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), deputies were dispatched to a motel around 12:30 p.m. after the vehicle owner reported her car stolen. The owner stated she had left her vehicle in the parking lot for an extended period and returned to find it missing.
Investigators obtained security footage from the motel that showed a man jump-starting the vehicle and driving away several days prior to the theft report. The suspect was later identified as Clayton, a resident of Sneads.
With assistance from the Sneads Police Department, deputies were able to locate both the stolen vehicle and Clayton. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies found several pieces of evidence confirming it was indeed the stolen car.
Clayton was arrested and charged with Grand Theft. The investigation continues as law enforcement continues to gather additional information.
