Rutherford County, Tenn. – On Wednesday, 37-year-old Lindsy Nicole Clemons, a former officer with the Smyrna Police Department, was arrested following an investigation into forged documents.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), in coordination with the Smyrna Police Department, began their investigation in December 2024. The probe, initiated by 16th Judicial District Attorney General Jennings Jones, uncovered that Clemons had submitted multiple forged doctor’s notes to the Rutherford County School System, falsely excusing her absences from school.
After presenting evidence to the courts, the Rutherford County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Clemons on February 4, 2025. She was charged with 19 counts of forgery and 6 counts of identity theft.
Clemons was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $40,000 bond, where she was later released. Clemons had served as a patrol officer for the Smyrna Police Department since November 2021.
The investigation into Clemons’ actions is ongoing.
