Six Arrested in Johnson City for $80K Retail Theft Scheme

JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WBNG) — Six individuals were arrested following an investigation into a large retail theft operation at a local retailer, according to Johnson City Police.

The arrests were made on January 27, and the individuals arrested included:

Alexzeya Brooks, 22, of Endicott, charged with enterprise corruption, multiple counts of grand larceny, and falsifying business records.
Andre Forbes, 27, of Binghamton, charged with enterprise corruption, numerous counts of grand larceny, and falsifying business records.
Damani Mizell, 23, of Binghamton, charged with enterprise corruption, several counts of grand larceny, falsifying business records, and violating probation for grand larceny.
Lytiek Gadson, 25, of Binghamton, charged with enterprise corruption and multiple counts of grand larceny.
Jaylen Sandiford, 19, of Vestal, charged with grand larceny.
Orion Sandy, 20, of Binghamton, charged with petit larceny.
The investigation began on January 21 when Johnson City Police uncovered a retail theft scheme involving store employees and outside accomplices. These suspects managed to steal nearly $80,000 worth of merchandise by facilitating unauthorized discounts, often as high as 99% off.

During the investigation, officers observed several transactions that raised suspicion. Multiple search warrants were executed, leading to the recovery of significant amounts of stolen merchandise from various vehicles and residences.

The scheme reportedly started in November 2024 but escalated in frequency by January 2025.

Brooks, Forbes, and Mizell were remanded without bail after being processed at Broome County Central Arraignment. Gadson remains incarcerated on unrelated charges. Sandiford and Sandy were released on appearance tickets.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with additional search warrants and possible arrests expected in the near future.
