Six Arrested in Chennai for Smuggling and Peddling Methamphetamine

Six individuals, including two software engineers, were arrested in separate drug-related incidents in Chennai, with police seizing methamphetamine, narcotic tablets, and other paraphernalia.

In the first operation, Nungambakkam police arrested three people from the Valluvar Kottam tank area. The arrested individuals were identified as Vinosh Anand (32), Shakti Vasudevan (34), and B Nitishkumar (26). Police seized 4.5 grams of methamphetamine from the group. According to police, Nitish and Vasudevan work as software engineers, while Vinosh is a dance teacher. During questioning, they revealed that they bought the drugs from a man named Amith, whom they met on a gay dating app. Police have initiated a manhunt for Amith, while the three arrested individuals were remanded in Puzhal prison.

In a separate incident, police arrested M Altaf (27) from Sivananda Salai after seizing 10 grams of methamphetamine, six syringes, and a weighing scale from his possession.

Additionally, in Kodambakkam, the police seized 85 narcotic tablets from S Dhanushkumar (19) and Ajay Fernandez (19) at Trustpuram ground. Both were arrested on Monday.

These arrests are part of an ongoing effort by Chennai police to crack down on drug smuggling and peddling in the city.
