Six people were arrested in connection with a series of butter and ghee thefts that led to over $60,000 in stolen goods from grocery stores in Brampton, Ontario. Peel Region Police announced the arrests on Wednesday after launching “Project Flaherty” in response to an increase in butter and ghee thefts in the area.
Through evidence collected during the investigation, police arrested three individuals—22-year-old Vishavjeet Singh, 23-year-old Sukmander Singh, and 28-year-old Dalwal Sidhu—for possession of property obtained by crime. The remaining three suspects—22-year-old Navdeep Chaudhary, 38-year-old Kamaldeep Singh, and 25-year-old Harkerat Singh—were arrested for theft under $5,000.
While the exact motive behind the thefts remains unclear, investigators suspect that the stolen butter and ghee may have been resold to other businesses. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out further arrests.
