Six Arrested in ₹32 Lakh Aadhaar-Based Scam Involving Chinese Nationals

Delhi Police arrested six individuals from Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra for their involvement in a sophisticated scam that targeted citizens by exploiting their Aadhaar card information. The accused posed as customs and police officers, informing victims that their Aadhaar details had been used in criminal activities, including the illegal transportation of goods such as drugs, bank cards, and cash. The fraudsters then extorted large sums of money from their victims under the pretext of helping them avoid legal trouble.

The scam came to light following a complaint filed by Deepanshu Vaid, a resident of Vasundhara Enclave, who reported receiving a call on April 29. The caller, claiming to be a FedEx Express employee from Mumbai, told Vaid that his Aadhaar card was linked to a parcel containing illegal items. The victim was then transferred to a fake Mumbai Cyber Police officer, who threatened him with legal action unless he paid Rs2.49 lakh to clear his name.

Following this complaint, police launched an investigation and found that the accused had been operating under the guidance of Chinese nationals, who had directed them to provide their personal bank accounts for receiving the illicit funds. The fraudsters earned commissions on the transactions. In total, Rs32,065,003 was credited to the bank accounts of one of the accused.

The six arrested men were identified as:

  • Ansh Kumar
  • Pranjal Kumar Sahni
  • Satender Dhaker
  • Vedant Prabhakar
  • Vishal Joshi

The police have registered a total of 72 cases related to this scam on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal and have seized evidence from the accused. The investigation is ongoing, with further arrests expected as the police continue to probe the role of the Chinese nationals behind the operation.
