In a major breakthrough, Tripura Police have arrested six individuals who were involved in looting valuable items, including furniture and appliances, from the CBI office in Agartala. The theft occurred at the CBI camp office located in Shyamali Bazar, Agartala.
On February 11, the New Capital Complex (NCC) Police Station received a complaint from Inspector Anurag of the CBI Agartala unit, reporting the theft. The officer revealed that the camp office had not been visited since September 2024, and it was only on February 11 that officials discovered the theft had taken place.
According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Subrata Barman, the thieves took advantage of the five-month gap, stealing steel almirahs, doors, windows, electrical appliances, chairs, and more. Following the investigation, the police successfully arrested two suspects, Biplab Debbarma and Raju Bhowmik.
Upon interrogation, the police were able to recover several stolen items, including seven steel almirahs, seven doors, four windows, one geyser, and a chair. Further investigation led to the arrest of four more individuals. All the suspects were residents of areas around the CBI camp office in Agartala.
The arrested individuals will be produced before the court, and the police will seek their remand for further questioning.
