Sittig was brought in for questioning and quickly confessed to stealing the trailer and excavator. He also provided detectives with information on where the stolen excavator could be found in Beauregard Parish.
On January 2, Sittig was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle over $25,000, theft of property valued between $5,000-$25,000, possession of marijuana, possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to comply with vehicle equipment requirements. His bond was set at $67,600.
Further investigation revealed that Sittig had an active warrant for identity theft related to a 2024 incident, where he fraudulently opened a charge account in someone else’s name, running up over $2,000 in charges at a local store, according to Vincent.
