SIT Presents Challan Against 12 Accused in Hari Nau Murder Case, MP Amritpal Singh Linked

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the Hari Nau murder case presented a challan against 12 of the 17 accused in the Faridkot court on Wednesday. The accused include Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh and designated terrorist Arsh Dalla.

The challan was submitted just a day before the expiry of the one-month extension granted by the court to continue the investigation and retain the custody of the arrested suspects. However, four of the accused remain abroad, and the investigation into MP Amritpal Singh is still pending, as he is currently detained in Dibrugarh Central Jail under the National Security Act (NSA).

The SIT has presented significant circumstantial evidence linking Amritpal Singh to Arsh Dalla. A former close associate of Singh has reportedly given a statement confirming frequent communications between the MP and Dalla.

The case revolves around the murder of Gurpreet Singh, who was shot dead by three assailants in Hari Nau village of Faridkot on October 10 last year. To date, 12 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, which was registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

During the court proceedings, the defense counsel criticized the SIT for making no substantial progress during the extended investigation period. They also questioned the failure of the SIT to summon Amritpal Singh for questioning, despite his detention in Dibrugarh jail. Alleging political interference, the defense raised concerns over the delay in investigating the MP’s alleged involvement in the case.

The investigation is ongoing, and further developments are expected as the court continues to hear the case.
