Sirsa Police have arrested four individuals involved in a cyber fraud case amounting to Rs 23 lakh. The accused were apprehended in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, after being linked to a fraudulent scheme that targeted a villager by promising significant profits through stock market investments.
The FIR was filed on January 27 at the Sirsa cyber police station after a complaint was lodged by Harpreet Singh, a resident of Sukhchain village in Sirsa district. According to Vikrant Bhushan, Superintendent of Police in Sirsa, the accused have been identified as Moin Ahmed, Atiq Ahmed, both from Rasulabad, Kanpur Dehat, Wasim Ansari from Minhajpur, Prayagraj, currently residing in Barabanki, and Hameed Raja from Kareli, Prayagraj.
The fraudsters allegedly used the Telegram app to connect with Harpreet Singh, convincing him to invest in the stock market, promising large returns. However, Singh was defrauded of Rs 22,82,239 during the course of these transactions. The police have secured a one-day remand for the suspects and will use this time to recover the money involved in the scam as well as the mobile phones used in committing the fraud.
Investigations are ongoing as the authorities attempt to trace additional victims and uncover the full extent of the fraudulent operation.
