Sir-Folliot Quarm, a 32-year-old from The Tower in Vauxhall, has been sentenced to four years in prison at Reading Crown Court for orchestrating a fraudulent scheme targeting college students. Quarm was convicted of conspiracy to commit fraud and money laundering after convincing victims to finance luxury items, including Rolex watches.
Between December 2017 and April 2019, Quarm deceived ten college-aged individuals across Reading, Milton Keynes, Oxford, and London. He manipulated them into taking out expensive finance plans by falsely assuring them that the contracts would not be processed. This allowed him to acquire mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and luxury watches, which he then sold for profit.
In a disturbing twist, Quarm threatened both the victims and their families to pressure them into taking out additional finance. Thames Valley Police discovered that Quarm had obtained a total of 55 items, valued at over £57,000. If the victims’ failed credit checks had been successful, the total value could have approached £100,000.
Quarm was arrested on November 7, 2018, and subsequently charged on October 5, 2021. His actions have highlighted the vulnerability of young people to financial exploitation.
